The Maiden Search
Crafted at Bangers & Lace in Chicago, Ill.
After attending an event highlighting beer and whiskey, we were inspired to create a cocktail pairing the two for Bangers & Lace, a 32-tap bar and restaurant with locations in Chicago and Evanston, Ill. Poured from our nitro tap, the caramel aroma and bready malts of The Search ESB from Chicago’s Aquanaut Brewing pair well with bourbon, the orange zest and toasted wood notes of Curaçao, and the spice of ginger liqueur in this frothy take on a whiskey sour.
1 oz Aquanaut Brewing Co. The Search (or another ESB, like Shipyard Old Thumper or Fuller’s ESB)
1 oz Breckenridge Bourbon Whiskey
1/4 oz Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao
1/4 oz KOVAL Ginger
1/4 oz Amaro Meletti
1/2 oz lemon juice
1/4 oz simple syrup
1 egg white
grated nutmeg for garnish
Dry shake all ingredients for at least 15 seconds to froth egg white, then add ice and shake again. Strain into a chilled glass with no ice and garnish with grated nutmeg. ■
