On tap at Franklins.
Clear, light golden color with wispy, fading white head. No retention or lacing. Vinous and acidic aroma, mildly fruity with very little spice and traditional saison aromas. Medium body with light carbonation and a strong tart and bitter finish. Grapefruit like and yeast sweetness provides nice balance to the surprisingly intense sourness. Disappointed that the rye and saison isnt as obvious as I hoped, but still a very nice first try at something like this.

I wasn't sure what to call this beer but the brewer describes it as "sour rye saison -- anaerobic sour mash -- fermented with Belgian siason yeast at 87 degrees."
Served on tap in a pint glass. Beer is yellow and clear with a thin white head, small bubbles, not too much lacing, moderate carbonation.
Aroma is mild lactic, some sulfur, almost fruity, probably from the yeast.
Beer is thin and bright, mildly bitter, sulfury base with a fruit, almost grapefruity finish. The beer is simultaneously sweet and sour with a mild acetic finish. An interesting beer. I'm not going to hype it up and say that there is a new Russian River out there and it is a few blocks from my house but this is a nice little saison with a mild tartness and I'd have it again.
