Pours an slightly dark amber/red color, 2/3" off white head. A little bit of a biscuit red malt nose to it. Moderate lactose apparent there.
Taste is sweeter than desired, substantial amount of malt to it that doesn't weigh down heavily. Bitterness somewhat tamed with that lactose. Loads of caramel/crystal malt all over this, and the stickiness it brings with it. I dunno, take Loakal Red, remove all the hops and replace with lactose. Oh yeah, and no wood/cedar influence allowed. I guess this is like a hipster step dad beer or something. I guess there are no off flavors, and it tastes like what they were going for here. Problem is, even with that, its not my cup of tea. Had that autumn yam beer kind of distaste for it. I don't think its as smooth as they think it is, still some clashing bitterness to it.
I think this is prolly left to die as a pilot batch. 1st review of this beer on BA.
