Double Double Mash is a double barrel-aged barleywine ale that packs double the indulgence. Aged first in Buffalo Trace bourbon barrels, then Heaven Hill bourbon barrels for another year, it offers rich aromas of oak, vanilla and fig. The velvety caramel toast and fig jam flavors mingle with charred vanilla notes. The journey concludes with a mildly sweet and clean finish, a testament to refined craftsmanship.

12oz pour at the Bruery.
Pours black, small pale uneven ring of head. Smell is booze (underlined), dates and vanilla and toffee. Motor oil. Nutty, husky. Taste is also boozy. Cola, nuts, some of the sweetness disappears. Mouthfeel is thick, heavy, sticky. Overall, honestly not bad, just more booze bomb than anything else.

On tap at the Bruery.
Gorgeous in the glass. Really want to love this one. Big fan of the original Mash. This one goes a bit hot on the booze and that definitely cut into the delicate, nuances sweetness where I long for the toffee, dates, etc.

From the 12.7 oz bottle in a snifter thanks to Bluejacket74! Cheers Dude!
This solid barleywine pours a muddled and murky burnt auburn with a
faint head of khaki foam that sizzles to a razor thin ring with decent legs.
Nose of oak, bourbon, vanilla, dates, figs, brown sugars, cherry, and
dark breaded malts. Flavors rocket past the nose with dark cherry, bourbon,
oak, vanilla, toffee, fig jam, cherry, light cranberry, dark breaded malts
akin to raisin bread, hints of rye, light tobacco, and brandy notes. Mouth feel
is medium, faint carbonation, smooth, warming, and finishing with a moderately
sweet and nicely balanced finish between boozy bourbon and brown sugar notes.
Overall, a stunner again from the fine Bru folk!
Cheers

Double Double Mash pours a dark brown with a small but long-lasting head. The aroma is vibrant; oak, bourbon, and vanilla come through. The flavor is much the same: vibrant and sweet, with a hint of toasted caramel, oak, bourin, and a touch of vanilla, with a sweeter finish. Good feel. Overall, it is a vibrant, sweeter barley wine with lots of barrel notes and toasted flavors to go along with it.

12.7 ounce bottle, 2024 edition, bottled 05/24/24. Served in a Bruery Hoarders chalice, the beer pours a dark brown color with about an inch or so tan head that didn't stay around for too long. Small amount of lacing. I like the aroma, the brew smells like bourbon, vanilla, dark fruit, caramel, brown sugar and some bready malt. For the most part I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of some oak and earthy flavors. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's rich and a bit creamy with a good amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall brew, worth trying especially if you like bourbon barrel aged barleywines!
