Open Water is our 7.5% classic IPA. Open Water is brewed with two row base malt with a small amount of Munich and wheat. It was hopped with a small amount of Chinook, Simcoe, Amarillo and Citra on the hot side and dry hopped with a bunch of Galaxy, Citra and Simcoe. Open Water was fermented with California ale yeast for a clean fermentation to allow the hop flavor to dominate the profile. This beer pulls from the neutral malt and yeast profile of traditional west coast style IPA, with out the bittering associated with that style.

Bright golden kolor, very nice haze, and a dense white head. Absolutely gorgeous beer. Dank tropical fruits on the nose - mango, grapefruit, papaya maybe?
The taste is exotic and the mouthfeel has bite - this is a krisp, fruity hop bomb that drinks dangerously smooth. Kane kontinues to krush it, KMHO.

I read the description of this beer, it was an intriguing combination. I am anxious to see how this beer comes out. The beer is 45 degrees and served in a pint glass. A gentle pour of the beer produced a two finger bright white head. The head is frothy and creamy with fair retention. The head dissipated leaving lacing on the glass. The color of the beer is SRM 4 a straw color with golden hues. The clarity of the beer is clear with effervescence.
The initial aromas in the beer are pine and toasted malt with grass. Additional aromas in the beer are grapefruit, oranges, floral, herbal, and yeast.
The initial flavors in the beer are grapefruit and floral ester. Additional characters are grapefruit, hay, wheat, grain, yeast, oranges, herbal, and resin.
The mouthfeel of the beer is bitter and crisp.
The body of the beer is light, high carbonation, and a full finish.
This beer is different. I get the full flavor of the WCIPA, but the brashness of the hops does not follow. The malt backbone of the beer is strong and supports the hops profile. The beer is satisfying, but I do miss the brashness. The beer is an interesting concept I would drink again.

Hops cut through powerfully, a real nice hop profile in the kettle and dry. Chinook and Amarillo give this IPA more of a West Coast than an East Coast taste.

Pours a pretty clear straw yellow color, big billowy white head. Aroma is citrus with some pine and dankness. Has a nice hop flavor, not Kane's usual big hop in your face flavor (which I love) - more of a west coast IPA. Citrus hop flavors with a gentle bitter finish. Carbonation is on point. Overall a well balanced west coast IPA,

Can to snifter. (can, from brewery, dated 9/21/18, so 10 days fresh).
LOOK: mostly clear yellow, the smallest touch of cloudy. Small white head with good retention.
AROMA: vegetable, hay, grass. maybe a hint of white grape.
TASTE: more veggie and grass and other grains. Touch of mold and a bit of a medicinal finish. I am not a fan of the flavor.
FEEL: Medium body. Pretty sturdy while also keeping a solid carbonation. touch of a slimy feeling.
Overall, pretty disappointed in this. I Love Kane, but this is likely my least favorite of the 40 or so brews I have tried from them,

Poured from a sixteen ounce can that was released yesterday.
A: Alightly hazy with a solid finger of white fluffy head. Tons of lacing.
N: Papaya, lime, tangerine up front. Danky weed aroma
T: There is a level of rindy bitterness. The taste is citrusy up front. There are some sweeter fruits in the background and a resiny dankness.
MF: A full mouth feel but dry . This beer is 7.5% and you can tell it is there. Beuth the alcohol is an element and doesn't overtake the palate
O: This is a homerun for me. An old school/West Coat style with new school hops. It is resiny and slightly bitter. Another example of how strong Kane's IPA game is.
