I got shut out for five years trying to get ANTEAD so yeah, big moment for me. Only had room to age one of my two bottles of each variant. Sad!

Poured into Kane tulip glass (but of course) and allowed to warm for over an hour.

L: Very tiny brown head appears and poof, gone. A little ring of bubbles on the top edge, otherwise beer is just black. Pour is medium viscosity.

S: Vanilla, coconut, with a hint of something slightly sweet, probably in the roasted malts.

T: A slightly sweet malt, but also well-roasted and a little bit of late bitterness. Vanilla does predominate, but the coconut does make its presence known and maybe that accounts for the early sweetness.

F: Full-bodied, a little bit of carbonation. The flavors all come through nicely, but the balance could use some fine-tuning and that might come with age, as it starts a bit too sweet and ends with a bit of bitterness and alcohol heat (hard to avoid at this high level).

O: I would say it lives up to the hype. Nicely done. We'll see what 3 years of age do to it.

Pours pitch black, pretty thick, minimal mocha head. Massive vanilla aroma with intermingled chocolate. Sweet coconut is very faint. Flavor is dominated by the vanilla, a bit too much IMO. I was hoping for the coconut to dominate, but it never arrives to the party. Good base beer chocolate and barrel flavors. The vanilla bean addition almost imparts a slight bitterness on the finish. Typical ANTRAD texture - thick and creamy. Overall a good beer, but I was hoping for a coconut overload and not a vanilla overload.
