Picked this up down at Kane not too long after it was released last year, as I'm still behind in my stash. Thankfully, this held up well over the last year and was pretty appropriate for tonight given how cool it is outside. Love a good Dopplebock and this fit that bill as it was malty, dark, and full of bread and fruit - all while not being overtly strong.

Of course, this had a brown hue to it as a ton of thick and long-lasting tan head topped this off and took it's time to settle. Deep, thick rings of lacing bled down to the ones below as there was quite a bit of it left in my Kane goblet after each sip. Dark bread, sweet malt, and raisin were in the nose as the plum, roasted toffee, and smoke came through in the taste. Full-bodied, lightly carbonated, and somewhat cloying, this was a smooth sipper that was easily on par with its European counterparts.

I only warmed up a tad while drinking this although a few more would probably sneak up on me and knock me out before I finished them off! Canned on 1/26 of last year, this was worth keeping in my fridge as it was just as enjoyable as their more popular offerings. Little sediment at the bottom and a long-lasting aftertaste left me wanting more and glad that I was able to hit this place up before my visit to Source on the way home. So lucky to have these guys here in Jersey!

Pours a very dark amber color, clear with a nice frothy head that slowly dissipates. Very nice sweet malt aroma, light caramel and toffee. Pleasant malty flavor, bready, with a gentle hop bite on the finish. Carbonation is crisp yet creamy. Overall a very good Bock. Would buy again.

Canned on 1/24/22; consumed on 4/14/22

Pours a deep, nearly pitch-mahogany body topped with a finger of creamy, beige foam; solid head retention yields a thin layer of cap, slightly thicker, frothy collar, and an ample layering of dense, webby lacing trickling down the walls of the glass.

Aroma offers a fresh minerality and robust, bready lager yeast into soft malt roast breeding light cocoa over the middle toward black bread crust on the back end as plum counters hints of smoke on the closing impressions.

Taste brings a rich, quasi-meaty malt base laced with plummy esters and distant tinges of mushy raisin evolving toward a touch of smoke over the mid-palate and an enhanced minerality meeting brown bread on the back end of the profile.

Mouthfeel offers a body in the denser end of medium with a mild-moderate carbonation and smooth, level textures steadily drying over the mid-palate into a light grit and silky, clean finishing impressions.

Rich with depth, the layered malt tones show a bock expressed in waves of complexity, saturated in a dark fruit underbelly calmly countering the more robust, semi-smoky elements prominent across the base; a full-flavored and ambitious malt profile.

Dark, thick, delicious bock. I thought it would be lighter in color, but it’s dark like a stout. Has a roasty, chocolate aroma. Taste is the same. Kind of sweet. Thick beer. Great bock.

Had a full pour at the brewery. Nice, deep mahogany color with a 1 - 1 1/2 finger head that dissipated slowly, leaving nice lacing. Subtle spice aroma and a very pleasant taste and mouthfeel.

Would definitely order this again.
