Jet black, no head (as it's served still). Nose is all heavy rye with a touch of sweetness. Thick and syrupy, almost too much so as there is no carb to balance it. Finishes sweet, chalky with a touch of maple.
Totally divine.

Okay, this is perfect. I'm sorry but Cory is a magician. No carb? No matter. Never bottled? Ugh.
At Huna day we waited in line for an hour only to discover...the scribe still hadn't kicked. We began urging everyone at the festival to drink the scribe, no need to wait in line, for the next 20 minutes we watched the Scribe be guzzled like high life until the last foamy glass poured out.
Two candles was worth the wait. Thick, but drinkable. The viscosity wasn't sticky so much as chewy. Not oily, but rich. Aroma I can still smell, chocolate, coffee, roast, maple, oak. Everything dark and bourbon-y. Best beer at Huna day. Best beer I've ever tasted probably.

Had this at huna day 2016. Late to rate this one, so no review other than the maple sweetness was the prominent distinguished characteristic of this beer. And the huge ass line to get 2oz

Had at Huna day 2016.
The beer is one of only a couple that have lived up to their reputation. I will admit as some have reviewed it would be impossible to drink something this strong for more than a couple ounces. incredibly complex, perhaps overly rich, maybe rivaled by one other beer I've had in my life.

i don't rate beers. i haven't rated a beer in 6 years (other than crime of passion which doesnt count). this beer actually deserves that review. it's absolutely incredible. so viscous that the lack of carb doesnt matter. massive coffee, chocolate, and ale and the maple overpowers it as it warms. has to be the best beer i've had.

I don't care what all the locals say who stuffed the ballot box at Hunahpu Day 2016, this was easily the best beer there that day. Simply amazing mouthfeel and exceptionally deep, complex flavor. Perhaps the most perfect stout I have ever tasted.

On tap at Hunahpu Day. Black and inky. No head, of course. Stains the glass. Smell is really sugary. Maple, whiskey, molasses. Intense. Taste is also really sugary. Maple throughout. Whiskey up front. Molasses and brown sugar malt backbone with some coffee in the back end that barely cuts the sugar. Heavy. Flat. Tiny pour was even too sweet, but given that portion, I enjoyed it.

Tasted at Huna '16.
This beer poured thick like 30yr old balsamic vinegar into my taster. I wondered for a second whether I should've asked for spoon to enjoy it. Smelled and tasted outrageously decadent, roasty and sweet. No carb really to speak of--this sludgy thick brew is too badass for bubbles.
A delicious treat.

maple, coffee, oak, bourbon, and tons of chocolate. the stillness almost seemed to thicken up the beer. i nearly dumped out my pour of morning delight for another pour of this. wow.

The pinnacle of maple coffee stouts, might be better than KBBS B1 if you enjoy a sweeter stout.
L - Dark as night, no carbonation served still. Stains the glass as you swirl it
S - Huge notes of chocolatey coffee up front, you can tell the coffee in it is amazing by the smell, followed by a load of maple on your face as it warms, clearing way for a nice smooth boozy finish. Could live in this glass
T - Taste is a perfect meld of coffee and maple, as it warms the maple becomes dominate and this beer becomes savory sweet. This might throw some people off, but after 5 pours of it... I was still ready to drink more
F - Thick chewy smooth creamy form the lack of carbonation. Cory is on point with the mouthfeel on his stouts as of late.
O - Slight nod to One Candle, but that may have been the best beer that has ever graced my luscious lips

5 oz. pour at the cellar during the anniversary week. Served still, a massive coffee maple nose, amazing body. Intense coffee, chocolate, maple syrup that's complimented perfect by the barrel. Who knew taking a road trip just to pick up Abraxas bottles I would taste one of the best beers I've ever had. The Beer gods were with us that day! Hands down one of the most finely crafted beers i've ever enjoyed.

I do not rate beers often, but this one merits some effort. Had a 5 oz pour at SP Cellar and then split another 5 oz pour.
I'm a huge coffee stout fan, and this is the best I've ever had. Massive body with an impressive bourbon-coffee nose. Taste is just like the nose - intense, rich coffee, fudge, with great bourbon heat (but not overpowering). Reminds me of a less boozy version of Pablo Eiscobar. While Eiscobar is more of a liquer, 2 Candles is definitely a stout, albeit non-carbonated. I very rarely give 5 star reviews, but this beer deserves it.

5 oz. pour at Side Project Cellar. Made with maple syrup and coffee beans from Nicaragua. Poured still. Black as night. Smells like deep, dark, chocolate fudge. Taste is to be savored. A chocolate sweetness lingers on the palate with a slight maple syrup tone. To sum up in one word: bliss.
