Like the other beers in this series, I looked forward to this one but felt a bit let down by how weak it was. Yes, this was a Berliner Weisse but came across more as a Fruit/Vegetable beer. That's because of how weak and syrupy this felt and it needed a lot more depth and heft for me to take it seriously...
The pour to this had very little head, less lacing, and a ton of sediment floating in the amber liquid like I was having a bottle of Orbitz from the 90's. Lots of apricot, faint strawberry, fruit patch, and subdued juice in the nose as the taste was just as thin and tart as the nose would have indicated. Weak and sour, this was a light beer in every sense of the word as it came across as artificial, even down to the lack of discernible body and carbonation that could have enhanced what was going on.
Of course, there wasn't a lot of booze here but that didn't come as a shock. A bit of cabbage and other vegetables emerged in the aftertaste as this warmed up but in the end, this felt like an outdoors beer that bordered on a thin and slick juice that mindlessly went down. Can't say that I've ever have anything again with these two fruits as it's hallmarks, as they just don't pair together well...

Served on tap in a 12 oz (355 ml) snifter at Other Half Brewery.
A: Pour a hazy, yellow-orange (much closer to yellow) color with a very transient, less than one finger head, resolving down to a rim, thus with limited retention and little or no lacing.
S: Tangy. Aromas of dried apricot and strawberry definitely detectable, but more grain and funk. Almost a meat drippings note.
T: Semisweet and lightly sour. Dried apricot and grains predominate, but savoriness and barnyard flavors also front and center. Can detect the strawberry at time; not at all bitter.
M: Light to medium bodied with similar carbonation.
O: I have had other mmm... Fruit sours from OH before and generally have enjoyed the very much. This was not quite on a par -- I would imagine apricot is not quite a strong enough flavor to stand up to the sourness and the strawberry is very much in the background. Drinkable and even enjoyable, but not my favorite.

whoever had the idea of putting strawberry in beer = bad man not good at all, just weird rather drink the Suarez fam peach summer brew which was actually nice and didn't attack the palate in a negative way, sometimes less is more.
