First brewed in 1934 by Salinas Brewing & Ice Co., Rodeo Beer was inventive, pioneering and proudly local while capturing the spirit of post-Prohibition California. With its iconic bandana label and hidden poker hands, it brought fun to every bottle. Now revived, Rodeo rides again. Cheers to tradition!

From a can.
Pours a clear gold color. Lightly bready nose with a similar character on the sip. Touch of hops on the finish. Easy drinking. Reminds me of a grainy pre pro lager.

I've not rated an American Lager this highly, not even close. After surveying the first four pages, the highest is The Lost Abbey's rendition got 3.82 from me. Since I rate every brew against its peers in that style, Rodeo is pretty damn good.
Based on brews just after Prohibition, Rodeo opens with pretty good Looks, nice foam and it sticks around. Smells are a slight drop as I get mostly malt and not much more of interest. But Tastes jump the ratings as I find no fault: balanced, hops enter slowly in mid-palate and intervene only mildly in the finish. Very soft and on the full side of medium-mouthed.
As for the excellent Overall Hugs, that's for Alvarado Street. I drank my first from them in 2018, a gentle sour. Then, they seemed prolific; now they are really prolific with 752+ on BA. But what's really impressive is that they've now opened five taprooms and four of them have very interesting gastropub menus. They seem to be repeating the nano-concept of small production and good food in the same site.... but sharing beers and food secrets. A very interesting way to grow. Very successful for a 12 year old. I may even try to visit them.
