We found an old mechanical hop picking machine in the fields of England, in the shadow of Stonehenge. With a lot of work, a modicum of sweat and a little monkey grease, the newly refurbished machine has been repurposed to deliver hop flavor to your mouth as efficiently as possible. Featuring a heap of citrusy Citra and mounds of mango-ish Mosaic hops conveyor belted on a base of wheat and flaked oats.

The Bruff from Revision Brewing, 16 fl oz can from @2beerdogs in NBW BIF 17. Reviewed 23/04/23 (Review 3080). Note that I use DD/MM/YY protocol.
Bottom of can stamped “VERY NICE 03/01/23”. Stored at 34 degrees at home. Served at 47.1 degrees F in a hand washed and dried Jester King snifter. The final temperature was 55.7 degrees F.
Appearance – 4.25.
First pour – Pale Straw (SRM 2), cloudy.
Body – Straw (SRM 3), opaque. Under direct light, same. When rear lite, translucent.
Head: Average (Maximum three cm, aggressive center pour), white, high density, short retention, leaving a 0.7 – 1.2 cm jagged crown and a thin complete layer.
Lacing – Excellent! Multiple bands of tiny to small bubbles, with jagged upper margins and dripping lower margins. This eventually evolves into torn curtain lacing. Some tiny islands and archipelagoes remain above the bulk of the lacing.
Aroma – 4.25 – Citrusy, mostly unidentifiable; no yeast, no malt. No ethanol (8 % ABV as marked on the label) aroma.
Flavor – 4.5 – Follows the nose. Begins and ends citrusy and full-bodied with a splash of mango. No malt, yeast, or ethanol. No gastric warming. No dimethylsulfide or diacetyl.
Palate – 4 – Full; creamy; soft carbonation.
Final impression and summation: 4.25 Good!

This is just a great NE IPA. Nothin special just a well crafted brew. This is the best example of the NE style.

Palate Contaminants: other beer

Light straw color. Opaque, although I can catch a shadow of a finger behind it. Lots of very fine white head and lots of lacing.

A little bit of freshly cu grass and a little bit of light malt. Some bittersweet orange in there, too.

Lots of citrus in the taste. Part of it is medium-strong lime (of all things), and part of it is lightly bitter orange. It's plenty earthy, too. Grass comes across more like lemongrass because of the dominant citrus. And it's not chalky, but there's some sort of anti-acidity push (not lactic) that I can't quite describe. Light sweetness. Interesting, if you can come across a can.

Like I alluded to, there's some sort of Tums effect going on, and it's really poorly described with those words. So, it's smooth, but not in a conventional way. Medium carbonation, although not prickly. Medium weight. Aftertaste is earthy and mellow elements.

Pours a murky light gold with normal carbonation. Aroma is thick with juiciness. Taste is much the same. Hops are piled on here and obscure the booze. All in all a decent NEIPA or DNEIPA to sip through.

Was excited to see this in stores as the last time I bought it (Dec. 24, 2018) I only had a can of it and didn’t get the chance to rate it. I gave it at 4 on Untappd and wrote, “If you’re into not being able to see through your IPA, this is outstanding. Big notes of Mosaic, mango, pineapple, passion fruit & Citra.” Can description read, “We found an old mechanical hop picking machine in the fields of England, in the shadow of Stonehenge. With a lot of work, a modicum of sweat and a little monkey grease, the newly refurbished machine has been repurposed to deliver hop flavor to your mouth as efficiently as possible. Featuring a heap of citrusy Citra and mounds of mango-ish Mosaic hops conveyor belted on a base of wheat and flaked oats.” This is Revision and Revision kills with their IPAs and haze. Was looking forward to it.

Poured a golden hazy color with 4-to-5 fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass at a pretty quick pace. World-class foamy lacing. Perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)

Smelled big notes of mango, passion fruit, peach skin, tangerine, Citra, Mosaic, stone fruit, SunnyD, mandarin orange and hints of honeydew melon. More mango, Mosaic and Citra from the can. (Smell - 4.25)

Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but still really good. Got mango, tangerine, passion fruit, orange creamsicle, peach skin, Mosaic, Citra, SunnyD, mandarin orange and stone fruit. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Juicy finish with some bitterness. (Feel - 4.25)

Maybe not quite as good as I remember it, but still outstanding overall. (Overall - 4.00)
