Crafted at The Rieger Hotel Grill & Exchange in Kansas City, Mo.
This cocktail was inspired by the classic Sidecar, a combination of spirit, curaçao and lemon. I gave this one a Kansas City twist with our homemade smoked bitters, and wheat beer from nearby Boulevard Brewing.
1.5 oz Old Overholt Rye Whiskey
0.75 oz lemon
0.5 oz Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao
0.5 oz simple syrup
2 dashes Kansas City Smoked Bitters
1 oz Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat Beer
Combine all ingredients except beer in cocktail shaker and shake vigorously. Strain over fresh ice in Collins glass. Fill with Boulevard Unfiltered Wheat Beer. Garnish with orange zest. ■
