A couple of threads got me to thinking what is the first readily available, for me, top 250 beer out there. One I can find just walking into a halfway decent store- year round. It seems to be Alesmith Speedway Stout here in S. Vermont, which is currently number five-0. Love that stuff as well. Any input on your area?

Most are not easy to find. The easiest in the top 30 is probably Rochefort 10.

I'm a big Speedway fan too, but the one at 50 is barrel aged. Regular Speedway is at 81.

Easiest to get (at least outside of Chicago) after the quads looks like Sculpin or Weihenstephaner Hefe.

    Rochefort 10 here as well.

Assuming I understand this correctly, what is the highest rated beer I can easily obtain year round?
    Rochefort 10 (#29).

Always available at the two liquors stores I most often frequent.

Founders breakfast stout always seems available, but I know its a seasonal release, so I guess I can't count that.

I'm surprised the top beer doesn't make your cut

Pretty much everything in the top 30 is either seasonal or has very small distro. Unless you live close to Russian River to get Pliny or one of the wild ales, the answer is going to be Rochefort 10.

FBS is pretty freaking easy to get here year-round, even though it's a seasonal beer. It's #23.

FBS disappears pretty early on here.

Within two blocks I can get Surly Abbrasive, Abt 12, Sculpin, Surly Furious, Stone IRS, Ruination, Ruin10, Old Rasputin. Have to go Roseville (about 4-5 miles) to get Rochefort 10 and Utopias (as though I could afford that.)

    Year round is Rochefort 10.

Right now? Also in the top hundred: FBS(23), St Bernardus ABT 12(44), Sculpin(71), Weihenstepaner Hef(72), Ten Fidy(98), and FIS(99).

Then Sculpin (meh) is the most readily available, year round beer in Southern VT. Have to look for Rochefort.

still better than 15 hours each way! I'd do that in a heart beat! Sounds a lot like my trips to WI for new glarus.

For NYC, other than the two quads everyone has mentioned already, I'd say I could quite easily find FBS and BCBS. And when the next Enjoy By is released it will be easy to pick up.

Around chicago, its Zombie Dust if you know where to look and pay a premium for it. A lot cheaper and easier to find is Founders Breakfast Stout.
