On May 7, Ontario’s Manantler Craft Brewing Co. and the American band Eagles of Death Metal released Boots Electric IPA, a tribute to the people targeted in the November 13 terrorist attack at Le Bataclan theater in Paris, where Eagles of Death Metal was performing. First Gluten-Free Barley Beer for Sale

In April, the German brewery Radeberger began selling Pionier Pilsener, the first barley-based, gluten-free beer. It was brewed with Kebari barley, a grain with 10,000 times less gluten than traditional barley, making it well under the World Health Organization’s limit for “gluten-free” classification. Scientists from Australia’s Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) developed the full-flavored barley and sold 70 metric tons to the German brewer.
