Belgian Dark Strong Ale

On the same path as Belgian Dark Ale but obviously higher in alcohol with more character all around. The alcohol can be deceivingly hidden or very bold and in your face. Look for lots of complexity within a surprisingly delicate palate. Hop and malt character can vary, but most Strong Dark Ales are full of fruity and strong dark malt flavors. Phenols will range from minimal to high and most examples will be light on the hops. All in all, most of these beers are spicy and alcoholic.
